Authors comments:
When the differences between the NTSC and PAL version of Metroid Prime were found, the discussion about how much these changes influenced the final time arose. But since we don't know weater all of the differences have been found, how precisely they affect the final time and if these effects can be bypassed or flattened out somehow, the situation is quite hopeless. With the recent release of the Player's Choice version, the whole scenario got even worse.
Maybe that's the reason why, one day, I've felt the urge to check this out manually, although I had no experience in speed running of any kind. And after several runs, this is the result, which I'm quite fond of (although some parts already are outdated), for it shows that even with the PAL version you can achieve (relatively) low times and that most of the time difference is skill based. So "don't hate the game, hate the player" ;)
All of the tricks should be reproducible by just watching them and/or them being covered on www.metroid2002.com. If you still have questions or want some tips on how to beat my time, feel free to write an email.
Anyways, I hope that you'll enjoy the run.
Cheers,
zoidi
